Dear Google Sites customer,

We're writing to let you know about a technical issue that may have caused unintended behavior for your sites converted from classic Sites to new Google Sites. These behaviors have been fixed in classic Sites conversion tools. However, there are some steps that you should take to ensure that your previously converted sites have the intended sharing settings.

What happened

Some of your converted sites and site attachments may not have the expected sharing settings:

  • Some users who had access to one of your classic Sites may not have access to the converted new Site. (Marked as "Some users missing access" in the attached CSV.)
  • The suggested published viewer access on your unpublished converted new Site may have been broader than the viewer audience on your classic Site. If you accepted this setting before publishing, it was applied to your published site. (Marked as "Incorrect published viewer setting" in the attached CSV.)

What to do

For your reference, we have included a list of your converted new Sites potentially affected by this issue, the sharing permissions on the corresponding classic Sites, and the days and times you converted each site (attachment_1.csv). If we are unable to provide some of this data for a specific site, it is noted in the CSV.

To ensure that your sites have the correct sharing settings, you should check the sharing permissions on your converted sites.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for choosing Google Sites.

Sincerely,

The Google Workspace Team
